National Pizza Day

Celebrate National Pizza Day with us in the kitchen making our all-time favorite pizza dough!

Way Cool Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 envelope (or 2 and 1/4 teaspoons) Fast Acting Yeast 
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup Warm Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil (more to coat the bowl)

Directions

Pour yeast and honey into the warm water. Stir to combine and let sit for 5 minutes.

In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine the flour and salt and then add the yeast mixture. Stir until the dough is shaggy and sticks together.

Pour dough onto a floured surface and knead into a smooth ball. Place your dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rest allowing to double in size (about 45-50 min.).

Once your dough has risen, divide the dough into as many pizzas as you want (recipe makes 10 individual or fewer if larger). Place dough on a floured surface and press out the dough into a circle using the palm of your hand and finger tips. Once it is the thickness and size that you want, in the middle of the dough, place your pizza sauce (recipe below) and and spread to the edge, leaving a small crust. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Place on baking sheets with parchment paper and bake at 400 F for about 15 minutes or until cheese is golden brown and melted. Let cool and enjoy!

Way Cool Pizza Sauce

Makes About 1 and 1/2 Cups of Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 (14.5 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (4 oz. ) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 Italian seasonings packet (about 2 Tablespoons)

Directions

Combine the tomato sauce and paste together and mix until smooth.

Add in the sugar, Italian seasonings, and minced garlic, stir to combine.

Use immediately following the recipe above, or store refrigerated in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
