Kids Culinary Essentials Series

Series 1

The goal of this four part series is to teach kids fundamental techniques needed to prepare a variety of basic meals. 
Along the way we stress kitchen and food safety, knife skills and proper use and care of cooking tools. 
Each class will begin with instruction on the recipes, understanding the ingredients, measurements and procedures. 
The menus are designed to stress fresh ingredients and kid-friendly flavors.  Students eat the dishes they prepare.

Class 1        Salad and Veggie Basics: 
Fresh Vegetable Pizza, Stir-fried Chicken and Vegetables, Salad of Mixed Greens, Carrots, Raisins and
                     Sunflower Seeds with Homemade dressing

Class 2        Soups and Sandwiches Basics: 
Vegetable Beef Soup and Creamy Tomato Soup, and Wrap and Panini Sandwiches.

Class 3        Sautéing and Grilling Basics:  Shrimp and Vegetable Kabobs with dipping sauce, Sautéed Chicken and Mushrooms
                     with an Herbed Pan Sauce & grilled pineapple sundaes


Class 4        Dessert Basics: 
Chocolate Layer Cake with Vanilla Frosting, Monster Cookies and Apple Crisp

Iron Chef (Ages 10 and up)          Series 2

The chairman has spoken & your secret ingredient has been revealed!  Now who will reign supreme!  Come join in the fun as we do Iron Chef - Kid Style.  In the first 30 minutes of each class teams will brainstorm recipes ideas and look up recipes with the WAY-COOL chefs and then begin to design their masterpiece dish.  In the next 60 minutes, they begin creating an entree & dessert with the secret ingredient. 

During this 4 class series kid chefs will work with different secret ingredients each week building their skills and confidence in the kitchen.


International Cuisine (Ages 7 and up)         
Series 3

Let your taste buds take a culinary adventure!

Class 1                   China:  Wontons, Pot Stickers and Stir-fry
Class 2                   Italy: 
Fresh Pasta, Minestrone Soup and Focaccia Bread
Class 3                   Mexico: 
Enchiladas, Guacamole, Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Crisps
Class 4                   France:  Chicken Cordon Bleu, French Onion Soup and Chocolate Mousse  

Baking and Pastry Art Series (Ages 7 and up)           Series 4

We will experience the sights, tastes and aroma of freshly baked sweets in this series!

Class 1                   Pies & Tarts:  Fruit Tart, Pumpkin Pie, and Chocolate Pie
Class 2                   Cakes and Cake Decorating:  Turtle Fudge Chocolate Cake; Yellow Butter Cake, and Homemade Buttercream Frosting 
Class 3                   Cookies and Cupcakes:
  Holiday Cookies, and Carrot Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

                  Custards:  Flan, Crème Brulee and Mousse

As the leaves change so do some of our favorite foods to enjoy!  Join us as we teach you how to make:
Apple Crisp, Chili, and Kicked up Corn bread with Honey Butter.

Learn how to Roll and Eat your own sushi creations!   California Rolls, Miso Soup and Tempura shrimp
 

October 23      5:30-7:30         Goulish Cuisine

In this monster mash of a class we’ll create spooky treats such as Eyeball Cupcakes and Monster Tacos.
 

October 7        5:30-7:30         Teen Knife Skills

Become the master of the knife with a simple knife skills course that will see you chopping, slicing and cutting like the professionals! This hands-on course is designed to show you everything you need to know about using knives and will help you improve your work in the kitchen!
 

November 4     5:30-7:30         Dog Treats for your Pet

Have a dog gone good time making recipes for your dog to drool over!

We’ll mix, shape, and bake up some WAY-COOL cookie favorites for you and your family.  Bring your favorite holiday tin to take your treats home or you can purchase on from us! 

December 16   5:30-7:30         Candy Workshop

Homemade candy has always been a special treat, either given as a holiday gift or presented in colorful tins for serving drop-in guests. Learn all the tips and techniques you need for making your favorites, including barks, brittles, clusters and fudge.  At the end of class, you’ll take home a small box of goodies, delightfully packaged for holiday gifting.  Now that’s a sweet deal!

Have your child make dinner for your whole family at our school! Your child will take part in creating a delicious meal from a variety of menu options that will feed 4-6 people. When you pick up your child you'll also be picking up a delicious, home cooked meal for dinner that evening!
